Wood/Tile Flooring FAQs
Who is tile installer? As a tile installer, also known as a tile setter, your primary responsibilities are to measure, cut, and install tile flooring. You handle the prep work, which includes removing the existing floor, leveling the surface, cleaning the area, and shaping the tile.
What is the difference between a tile setter and a tile installer? Unlike ceramic tile installers, the goal of artisan tile setters isn't to finish work on a job site as quickly as possible; they strive for close to perfection in laying ceramics. That's why their prices are based on flat fee rather than square feet.
Why is tile labor so expensive? Tile installation has often been viewed as a costly home improvement. However, it's not just about laying tiles; it's an art requiring specific skills and attention to detail. From ensuring durability to achieving aesthetic perfection, the process is intricate and time-consuming.
Can floor tiles be repaired? Repairing cracked floor tiles is possible however, if a tile presents a crack or is broken, we'd always recommend replacing it to ensure it is safe.
How do I know if my tile job is good? Make sure: - Installation in bathtubs and showers should be checked to ensure floors and drains are flush with one another. - Patterns and colors fit the agreement with the contractor. - Tiles are laid in an even pattern. - Wall boards are properly recessed (anchored prior to being placed)
How to refurbish a tiled floor? Step one: Remove loose tiles and debris. Step two: Get cleaning! Step three: Reattach the floor tiles. Step four: Use putty to repair small chips. Step five: Use a plastic scraper to remove paint. Step six: Deep clean the floor. Step seven: Seal and buff the floor.
Do you have to remove tile to install new tile? Most often, you should remove existing tiles before installing new tiles. However, old tiles can sometimes be difficult or almost impossible to remove.
Why is 50 tile pattern not recommended? Today, with the popularity of rectangular tiles, the pattern of choice has been the 50% offset or brick joint. While this pattern can be very attractive, it can also be frustrating when the inherent warpage on the long side of the tile causes lippage.
